This exercise was originally designed in Lancashire and allowed community groups a safe space to discuss the tactics used by counter terrorist officers and an opportunity for the local police to tackle grievances that were building up around people being arrested under the terrorist legislation and then released without any charges.
The table top is two and a half hours long and asks the audience to play the role of detectives during that time and undertake a series of tasks around a terrorist incident that are presented to them through a video feed. The idea is that with the help of local officers in the room, the participants gain a greater understanding of the role of the local Constabulary during large scale incidents. Although this centres around a terrorist attack for us this could be any large scale incident and should anything serious happen here in Gloucestershire, those who have participated in this event will have knowledge that they then may be in a position to cascade down to others, on why certain things are happening.
